As expected, will break easier than steel.This is a fine product at a fair price. They are solid brass, not steel brass plated, and as such require some understanding of how to use them in application and installation. Brass is soft so it's time to re-introduce yourself to your hand tools unless you have experience with the appropriate power tool. A pilot hole is a must in medium to hard woods and torque should be kept to the minimum required. These screws are machined well and are uniform in their manufacturing. I used them to restore outdoor park benches for the seating styles. They should not be used in joints which will be placed under high shear or stress.
