Heavy duty. Looks good.Keeps hooligans from easily sliding something into the latch but would take No work at all to snap it off the door if you wanted. The product shipped quick. It was easy to installThis is a fairly solid latch guard but be aware that the cut-out is sized for a normal deadbolt size lock. If you have the larger ADA style hand latches with their large ring base, this will not fit around the base. If that is the case, you can use it to guard the deadbolt, which is what we chose to do. One reviewer complained about the bolt quality, but they come with standard carriage bolts and acorn nuts. If you are looking for grade 8 carriage bolts, then go to the hardware store. Also, use some common sense, if the bolts protrude more than a 1/4", because your door is thin, when you tighten down the acorn nuts the tops will pop off. That isn't a problem with the hardware, that is an installer error. The instructions recommend a 5/16" drill bit to make the holes, I used a 3/8" for the head side to make it easier to sink the carriage bolt and switched to the 5/16" after clearing the head slot depth.Very heavy duty. Will definitely keep people from getting to the latch. Great buy. Would definitely recommend. Not quite the right fit for what I ordered it for, but it will work for what I need it for!Very well built but make sure you check your door moldings before ordering. This item is very strong and fit my door perfect after a small modification to the trim. There are other products that mount to the side of the door but this one is a much better option if you are looking for durability.Simply slip school ruler, or taut dental floss behind this and your in. For this concept to work it has to be at least 2 feet long, we made 2, each 18" long, cut from a 3" x 36" sheet steel bought from home store or your local recycle yard, had our local mechanic drill some holes and then we bought some of those security 'one way' bolts, the ones you see in the privacy dividers in public bathrooms, at out local hardware store, done! Paying a locksmith $100/hr, plus call fee of $50, to install something that wont challenge even yourself is a NON STARTER. It was our locksmith that suggested all the aforementioned. Lesson learned, next time we're doing the entire length of the door, but were keeping our french doors!Looks good. But not super solid and firm. If feels that it could still be pried open or bent with a crow-bar if there is a gap present, which there is in our installation on our door.
