I bought this as a sort of gag gift for my sister's 50th birthday - we were playing a virtual murder mystery that takes place at a dog show, and I had this engraved "Best in Show" and "Happy 50th Birthday." Unfortunately, I thought I had it delivered directly to her but a mistake was made either by me or by Amazon and it came to me instead - but luckily I mailed it to her and she got it in time for the virtual birthday party and had the desired effect! She has a nice momento of her special day, even if it was "virtual." The top IS plastic, but the base is heavy and the engraving very professional - not cheesy at all. And the price is very reasonable - trophies are expensive and then you have to add engraving on top of that . . . this was a very good value.
