My 3 1/2 yr old loves these toys!! He loves transformers and the one-steps are easy for him to convert back and forth from robot to vehicle modes. One of the best toys for toddlers on the market right now in my opinionVery simple one motion transformation. My grandson just turned three and gets frustrated easy. These were very easy for him to doI've seen that a lot of people have had issues with the head. If it's properly in truck from, and everything is aligned properly, then the lever is in position to hold the head down. Once you twist the robots chest forward a bit, to where it's not perfectly in its truck formation, the part that pushes the lever is no longer engaged and the head will stay open and not stay closed until that lever has been reengaged. For the people who are having issues with the head, I'd be curious see where the little contact point connects at the back when in truck form. Assuming you have it in the proper position, the latch should be in place to hold the head. It should be very apparent when actually looking at how it works.I got this for my son. He is 3 and loves robots, transformers etc. he tries to transform everything from wooden blocks to other random toys. I thought this would be a cool starter..although it's so simple it may not totally hold his interest. He does love optimus prime though. My one grip is that it is very cheap, thin, plastic. It seems like it would break very easily. According to reviews it is durable so I don't know. I was very surprised and disappointed by quality when it arrived since all the reviews call out durability. I admit we don't buy a lot of run of the mill plastic toys. I try to stick with higher quality if we do go plastic. All and all, it's affordable but should really be about $8.00 retail tops for the quality. My son has not gotten this yet. It was for Christmas but I'm a little on the fence if I going to keep it. The one I got is also a bit scratched up on the front. I found some cool wooden transforming robots locally that I may consider as a replacement. If we do keep, I'll be sure to update this review. If your kid loves rescue bots, I'm sure they'd love this. My son doesn't care much for rescue bots, he really likes the regular transformers. It's a great idea to get the little ones the transformers they like, and they can actually transform them on their own.Update* I did give this to my son for christmas and he does enjoy it..although he likes the power rangers gosei great megazord he got much more. It is fun and I can overlook the cheapness of the plastic as he enjoys it and once unpackaged it wasn't that bad. I do agree with others that the head mechanism is poor on optimus. The head only goes down fully in truck mode if the legs are pushed completely together and it isn't the tightest lock when it's down. It can pop up. My son has a little trouble transforming it but after a few days he should get it easily. He has an easier time with the megazord, which I thought would be the opposite. All and all, for around 10 or under this would be a great buy. I don't plan to get more. My next venture into transformers will probably be for the real ones down the road. I raised my review from 3 stars to 4.My twin boys always loved cars, and having been an 80's child and Transformer lover growing up, I introduced them to the show early. They turned 4 yesterday, and absolutely LOVE transformers. So often they are given transformers as gifts... which they get so excited about, and break within 10 minutes trying to transform something that is not made for their age group. Not to mention man are very cheaply made. They look cool, but don't work out. We were given a couple of cheap age inappropriate transformers last night. It was the ONLY toy my guys got at the party they were really excited about. This morning I am picking up little transformer bits from the badly broken toys, and the twins have moved on to their Jr. Stomp Rocket and the Walmart brand cheap miniature toy car set (can't remember the name, both of those are fantastic inexpensive toys though). But wait! Mom had shopped amazon, read reviews, and bought the rescue bots on sale for $11 each! I gave them their bags from me today, and once they saw the rescue bots they ignored the rest of the toys (and even giant lollipop) and immediately zoned in on the rescue bot toys. In 8 minutes I had both toys out of the packages and had shown them how to transform and insert accessory. An hour later the boys have not put them down. No broken bits! Some of these reviews state these are too easy to transform, and should be labelled for ages 1-4 or something. I disagree. They are very appropriate for my young 4 year olds. These are labelled for ages 3-7 and I agree completely with that marketed age group. I was not looking for something to "challenge" my 4 year olds, We have puzzles, duplo etc. and that wasn't want I wanted in a transformer. I was looking for something that is fun and durable and that they will go crazy over. Something they interact with. These are not puzzles. You just push or pull 3 areas to transform them. They look good as both a robot and as a vehicle. They are durable enough for my twin 4 year olds.We have Dino Switch and Go's also. Between the 2 those are probably better (better quality and they are electronic) but with my guys so into Transformers it made the most sense for us to have both. Also the Rescue Bots have their own TV show, which they can watch while they play with their new toys.Oh, the accessories are nice and go on easily in both robot and vehicle form. Unlike so many others that are tough to attach and usually only used in one form, which can make them difficult to store! No batteries! A classic toy that encourages child to think. My grandson LOVES robots, so when I found these I thought they would be perfect. And they are! They are easier for little hands to hold and carry, and for them to "transform" they are a simplified form of the original so that they can be fun for a little guy. Super cute, great size, and great price.
